The icy start to the Eiger trail along the bottom of the north face so you are in the shade for 2-3 hours.

Not that narrow but very popular

And quite boring

These guys were so bored they built some cairns

If you look really close you may see a rainbow in the snow.

Its only open for a few months each year as rock fall is a danger this summer it was closed for a few weeks as high temperatures were melting the permafrost and releasing rocks.

Now that's quite a shadow.

Grindelwald

This waterfall marked the spot where most people descended to Alpiglen but I continued on the high path.

Which I found more scenic and sunnier than the over hyped Eiger trail.

My cairn

Okay now I'm a bit bored.

But then I found this cool snow cave.

I didn't go too far in just in case.

It was quite a chunk of snow.

Puts you off lamb chops.

At the end of the trail you can to the gorge formed by a glacier and melt water.

Another trail for another day.

Safety rails

With terrain like this they don't have too many options of where to put the trail. I had a short ladder to descend.

Or you could pay money to walk along walkways and through tunnels.

Some of the tunnels weren't that well lit.

And I only had 30 minutes so I was rushing about.

You could do a bungee jump into the gorge.
